Multiflash 7.7

About Multiflash 7.7
Multiflash 7.7 expands KBC's thermodynamic and PVT modelling capabilities with important developments in chemical reaction modelling, electrolyte thermodynamics, CCS and hydrogen applications, model accuracy, component data, and usability.
Engineering teams increasingly need to model more than conventional hydrocarbon systems. CO2-rich fluids, hydrogen systems, saline produced waters, reactive mixtures, and petrochemical separations may all need to be evaluated within the same engineering workflow. Multiflash 7.7 addresses these challenges by extending the consistent thermodynamic foundation of Multiflash to a broader range of complex energy, chemical, and water-based systems. A major development in this release is the introduction of chemical reaction flash calculations, in which chemical equilibrium is solved together with physical phase equilibrium. This allows users to model systems where chemical reactions influence fluid and phase behaviour within the Multiflash environment. Applications include regular reaction systems, such as methanol synthesis, and selected electrolyte reactions, such as calcium carbonate precipitation.
Multiflash 7.7 also expands support for brines, salts, ions, and aqueous chemistry. These developments strengthen workflows involving scaling, corrosion, produced water, CCS, and other applications where water chemistry affects fluid behaviour. Further developments improve the treatment of CO2-rich and hydrogen-rich systems, extend the component and binary interaction parameter databases, and enhance phase-envelope calculations, PVT experiment simulation, physical property prediction, polymer modelling, model selection, and the Multiflash graphical user interface. Overall, Multiflash 7.7 provides engineers with a more comprehensive platform for modelling reactive and non-reactive systems using a consistent thermodynamic framework across reservoir, production, flow assurance, process, petrochemical, CCS, hydrogen, and water-chemistry applications.
