Petro-SIM 7.0 Changes to Refinery Reactors
Aromatics Reactor
Usability improvements
- Supports internal recycle mode in addition to once through operation
- Mode supports a makeup hydrogen stream and allows you to specify a recycle purity target
- Wizard available to simplify setup of new cases
- Available from File – New – SIM Reactor Case
Calibration improvements
- Reactor now supports an automatic tuning mode as part of calibration
- Mode solves using optimisation during the calibration process
- Mode configured on the reactor Calibration page
Isomerization Reactor
Usability improvements
- Wizard available to simplify setup of new cases
- Available from File – New – SIM Reactor Case
Calibration improvements
- Reactor now supports an automatic tuning mode as part of calibration
- Mode solves using optimisation during the calibration process
- Allows auto-calibration of kinetics for major reactions
- Mode configured on the reactor Calibration page
- Works in conjunction with Data Set Analysis for looking across multiple sets of data
FCC Reactor
Catalyst handling
- Content of separate catalyst.dat file now brought within the object to make it easier to manage ZSM-5 and CCM catalyst parameters for different FCC models
- Can either edit parameter values directly in Petro-SIM or point to file
- Catalyst parameters can be treated as a separate Publish/Subscribe category from others allowing reactor to subscribe to one channel for calibration factors and a separate channel for catalyst factors
- Improvements to Ni Passivator Target to support Passivator to Ni Ratio determined from calibration
- CDB Factors can now be saved in case, breaking dependance on separate CDB file
- Number of CDB Catalysts in use at a time increased from 3 to 5
- New tuning factor for makeup catalyst retention factor
Cracking
- New Pore Accessibility Effect tuning parameters allowing better match to effluent back-end
- Slurry T90 now explicitly tracked as calibration factor
Calibration options
- New Product Hydrogen Balance option for matching based on calibration case bias
ZSM-5 Handling
- ZSM-5 Factors updated based on literature and experimental data
- New factors better reflect reactivity of current additives
- New factors better handle changes in ZSM-5 concentration versus operation at fixed concentrations
- Two new methods added
- Additional calibration factors calculated and used as part of improving response
Riser Geometry
- Enhancements to support more flexibility in riser specification and operation
- Risers have additional mid-riser feed injection point
- Risers can have different diameters through length with model supporting up to three sections
- Allows model more accuracy in predicting catalyst residence time in the riser
Hydroprocessing
- Now supports up to 20 beds per reactor
Delayed Coking
- Support added to handle calibration of operations with high C5 content in Wet Gas
- Number of improvements to calibration robustness
HF-Alkylation Kinetic Reactor
- Upgraded based on client feedback on initial version in Petro-SIM 6.2 release
