Petro-SIM 7.0 SP2 Known Issues

Petro-SIM v7 SP2 Known Issues and Notes

Help pages
Currently, we are experiencing technical difficulties with both the Local and Web-based Petro-SIM Help pages, and we are working hard to resolve this issue quickly. As a workaround, if you are seeing a blank Help page, please click on either the Home button or Table of Contents button. Then, you can continue your search for topics under Help.

HXX-SIM

Migrated workbooks created before Petro-SIM V7.0 may have a bad dimension/unit of measure for Catalyst Density variables. If you see an error message relating to catalyst density being missing or omitted when running in V7.1, we recommend either generating a new workbook and migrating your data via XML export/import or manually editing the unit of measure for Catalyst Density parameters from “StdLiqMasDen” to “MassDensity”. This second option is only recommended for users familiar with the KBC Excel Application ID system.

The "Cat. Par. Shape" variable (used only by the Pressure Drop feature) incorrectly treats an input of "Cylinder" as sphere and an input of "Sphere" as cylinder. The workaround for spherical catalyst is to input the shape as "Cylinder" and also input any positive number for the "Cat. Par. Length" (which will be ignored by the DP calculations) so that the reactor will not complain about a missing particle length. The workaround for cylindrical catalyst is to input the shape as "Sphere" but also input the "Cat. Par. Length" of the cylindrical particle and ignore any messages in the Trace Window that incorrectly claim "catalyst particle length is ignored". This bug has been fixed in V7.0 SP3.

DC-SIM

In Petro-SIM V7.0 SP1 and earlier, DC-SIM is calculating an inaccurate product sulfur distribution when the Drum Overhead Pressure is greater than or equal to 35 psig (2.413 barg) and the Natural Recycle CFR is less than 1.3. This bug has been fixed in V7.0 SP2 and above, but if your case falls into this condition, we recommend recalibrating your case for the most accurate results.
