Petro-SIM 7.1 improvements to Unit Operations

Saturate unit op. as an upstream well/feeder

New Saturate unit op. set up menu

Functionality description
The Saturate Unit operation has the following three purposes:

  • Saturates a material stream with water. A liquid, vapour or two phase stream with either no water or a small amount of water will be saturated at either its current operating conditions or at the user’s specified pressure and temperature.
  • Increases the Gas-to-Oil Ratio (GOR) of an inlet stream using the gas generated by such stream at the specified conditions of pressure and temperature. This GOR is calculated on a dry basis for both the liquid and the gas.
  • Adds enough water into the material stream in order to meet a specified water cut value.
  • Basecase can be tied to a database case

New improvement

  • This unit operation can be used to feed a Maximus hydraulic sub-flowsheet.

New improvements

  • API orifice sizes are now available to be selected by the User.

API orifice designations
  • Rigorous “Direct Integration Method” can be used for two-phase systems, supercritical fluids and flashing liquids (calculations based on API 520 Part I).

New and improved Ejector unit op.

  • Design mode calculations, with the purpose to determine preliminary dimensions of:
    • Inlet nozzle throat area
    • Mixing chamber area
    • Diffuser throat area
  • Rating mode calculations:
    • Detailed model
    • Semi-empirical model

New options for the Ejector unit op.

Base Delta unit op. ongoing improvements

  • Allows users to build base delta table completely independently within the Base Delta Op. Users can choose variables for deltas and observables and fully specify the base delta table themselves.
  • Supports base delta tables in terms of Property*Yield and just property deltas. This allows users to mimic PFR and enter Property based deltas. The existing functionality is expanded in the base delta table/solver to support both.
  • Allows users to edit the configuration of existing base delta table. This feature works in both steady state and dynamics.
  • Allows users to export base delta page structure to excel similar to the “View in Excel” button on the observables page of the LPU.
  • Allows users to choose synthesis default product properties, stream composition, P and T.
  • Support multiple base delta solvers in base delta operation.
  • Simplified Reactor Models – Dynamics.

Improvements to Spreadsheet Logical op.

  • The spreadsheet now keeps the specified column width.
  • User can track the spreadsheet cells being used and their relations with other cells.
  • Cell formatting.
