What's new in Maximus 7.7
With Maximus 7.7, we continue the transition of Maximus from a primarily engineering and field-planning tool into a production modelling platform that can support operational workflows, production optimization, and asset-level decision-making.
The focus of this release is to make trusted engineering models easier to use in operational contexts. Maximus 7.7 improves the way users bring existing well and network models into Maximus, calibrate models against field data, represent artificial-lift systems, and model production-system behaviour across the life of the field.
This release is not a single-feature update. It is a practical step toward operational asset modelling: connecting existing models, keeping them calibrated, improving full-field representation, and reducing the manual effort required to reuse engineering models in day-to-day production decisions.
Key themes in Maximus 7.7 include:
- Model continuity — reuse existing engineering and well models with less rework.
- Field calibration — keep wells and network models aligned with measured field behaviour.
- Full-field operational modelling — represent wells, networks, facilities, and operating constraints as part of the production system.
- Operational confidence — use trusted models to support production decisions while reducing production, operability, and integrity risk.

- Older versions of OLGA-S are no longer provided. The ability to utilize the latest versions of SLB's OLGA-S is available when purchased directly from SLB. Users need to purchase OLGA-S directly from SLB and require an AOL 3-J1 OLGA-S type license.
- Updated Multiflash 7.6 integration as part of the Maximus 7.7 release cycle.
Interfacing, usability, and performance
- Enhanced data import and model-ingestion workflows, including Prosper™/GAP™ ingestion and extended file-reading support.
- Improved modelling, tuning, and analysis workflows, including in-object tuning and flow-correlation sensitivity analysis.
- Consolidation and refinement of existing functionality, including the Boundary Conditions dialog and hydrate-inhibitor behaviour.
- Usability, performance, and user-experience improvements across plotting, GIS display, storage tank modelling, and workflow automation.
- Improved foundations for cloud, API, and digital-twin workflows by making models easier to connect, calibrate, and reuse.
Key benefits
Reuse existing models with less rework
Many operators already maintain well and network models in established workflows. Maximus 7.7 helps bring those models into Maximus more directly, reducing duplicate model-building effort and making it easier to extend existing engineering work into field-wide production modelling.
Keep models aligned with field behaviour
The new well-test matching and tuning workflows help users calibrate model parameters against measured data. This supports more reliable use of models for production monitoring, planning, and operational decision-making.
Model artificial-lift systems more effectively
ESP modelling expands Maximus’ ability to represent artificially lifted wells. Users can model ESP performance, import vendor performance data, and evaluate how ESP operation affects production behaviour across the network.
Improve Life-of-Field and operational studies
Enhancements to storage tank modelling, multiphase accumulation, and reservoir-to-surface workflows strengthen Maximus’ ability to support Life-of-Field studies and operational planning from reservoir to export.
Support operational decision-making
Maximus 7.7 helps close the gap between engineering models and operational workflows. It enables production and flow-assurance engineers to use trusted models more routinely when assessing operating constraints, evaluating production options, and managing production, operability, and integrity risks.
Typical application areas enhanced in Maximus 7.7
- Integrated Asset Modelling and Integrated Production Modelling.
- Full O&G field modelling from reservoir to export.
- Well and network calibration using field data.
- ESP-lifted well modelling and production assessment.
- Production monitoring, surveillance, and optimization.
- Operational planning and what-if analysis.
- Flow assurance and production chemistry risk assessment.
- Life-of-Field support for brownfield and greenfield assets.
- CCS-related storage tank and loading/offloading scenarios.
- Coupled reservoir-to-surface workflows using 6X integration.
Known issues and limitations
List of known issues that may be relevant to the users:
| Object / Area | Reported issue | Issue # | Workaround / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pipe profile results | Profile results copying does not copy row/column headers | MX-6339/BZ-23021 | N/A |
| Sensitivity Analysis | The SA values for the flow correlations sensitivity parameters change depending on what OLGAS is installed on the users machine | MX-6586/BZ-22955 | If loading a file from another user(or after modifying OLGAS installations on your machine), make sure you double check the Sensitivity Analysis dialog that is using the correct OLGAS version. |
| GIS map | GIS Map view will not load and turning it off and on again will cause a crash | MX-6637 / BZ-23017 | If the GIS map doesn’t work for you, contact KBC support for an updated config file. Try not to use the GIS map while it has not loaded correctly. |
